Have you ever woke up in the morning and you just knew something was off, you could feel the dark cloud of what ever it is troubling you and even your spouse who has good intentions of seeing how you are feeling suddenly becomes the easiest target to bark at. Nothing seems to bring a smile on your face, your quick to snap that the note just played on the piano was wrong and little feet just aren't moving fast enough. Those wild hooligans you are raising suddenly become like caged monkeys at the zoo reeking havoc in your car as you talk to a friend. Talking to her seems to help make the pain go away. You try your best to remain calm but if one more outburst comes from the back of the car, you're going to scream. You can tell something just isn't right and yet you can't seem to put your finger on it.
No amount of sitting out in the sun soaking up rays seems to help, all the chocolate you can find isn't helping, in fact its making it worse. The hottest water in the shower isn't washing away the feeling and those tears you shed were tears that said you have had enough. You drag your self to bed hoping that it will all just go away. But you remember its time to pray. You can barely focus on what you are saying, you just want to curly up in a ball and hope it will all to away. You start to pray mindlessly but it becomes too much. Your pray becomes a plea. You suddenly find that you are pleading more and more earnestly that the Atonement can lift your burden, that after all you could do, you just can't take it anymore. You remember that you have a Savior who said that we don't have to suffer because he already did. You can instantly feel the weight being lifted. You can feel a warmth trying to let you know that this too shall pass. Suddenly, you feel peace and find you can rest easier. You awake the next morning, still feeling that dark cloud trying to orbit your body, but the thought of your Savior pushes it away. You tell yourself you don't have to do this alone.
This week, I express my Gratitude for the ultimate gift I have ever been given. The Atonement of Jesus Christ.
